The Gateway Assessment was developed for the purpose of measuring and reporting student progress on the Gwinnett County core curriculum- the Academic Knowledge and Skills.  Students take this test for the first time in the spring of their sophomore year.  The content areas covered on this test include language arts, science, and social studies. 

The format of this test is ESSAY.  Students will write an essay based on science content and knowledge on one day and they will write an essay based on social studies content and knowledge on a separate day.
