GEORGIA HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION TESTS (GHSGT) - 11th Grade Last Changed
2010-01-22

As one of the requirements for earning a regular high school diploma, students must take and pass all five portions of the Georgia High School Graduation Test.  The five areas include:  Writing, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Math.  Juniors take the Writing Test in the fall.  Students must write a persuasive essay on an assigned topic and score a minimum of 500 to pass this test.  Results for this writing test are given to students early December.

In the spring of their junior year, students take the remaining four content area tests.  The format of these tests is multiple choice.  These assessments ensure that students qualifying for a regular education diploma have mastered essential core academic content and skills.  Results from these tests will be given to students in late May.
